To Napier Boys High School,
As a Nimon & Son’s existing customer or supporter, we wanted to keep you updated.
With Covid-19 affecting all residents of New Zealand in a multitude of ways, we wanted to get in touch to update you – and let you know that we are taking immediate steps to safeguard the health of our passengers and staff.
Although current information from the Ministry of Health identifies the risk of widespread outbreak as low, we are taking any potential risk seriously so you can be assured we are committed to providing a safe environment for your travel needs. We are flexible and will adapt our current policies and information to staff as the response to Covid-19 continues to evolve.
What are we doing?
Additional Cleaning Procedures:
We have additional procedures in place for disinfecting our buses between trips, particularly in high-touch areas on vehicles. All drivers are using a disinfectant mist that will be run through the air conditioning systems before and after each shift, and spraying hard surfaces down with strong disinfectant at the same time.
COVID-19 Risk Assessments and Health Procedures for Drivers
Staff have been briefed on current Ministry of Health Guidelines on enhanced hygiene practices including staying home when feeling unwell the importance of social distancing, limiting contact with travellers from overseas, stand-down periods from work and self-isolation requirements. Most of our staff are in a high risk category with Covid-19, so we are taking every measure to ensure their safety and consequently your safety in every circumstance.
Enhanced on-bus protocols
Sanitizer will be made available (where possible given the limited stocks available) on vehicles. Passengers and staff will be asked to clean their hands immediately prior to entering the bus.
We will where possible (subject to availability) increase the size of buses for groups, allowing for increased social distancing between passengers. If you require additional information, or have requests due to your own policies, please contact us and we will be happy to assist. We are following government announcements closely, and at all time are complying with all Ministry advice as it is announced.
Please ensure you read the latest updates on public events and mass gatherings. If you are planning to attend an event, we recommend you make contact via email/phone with the event organiser to see if it will be going ahead. This will allow you to make decisions prior to outright cancelling your bus service. It may be that the event is pending an alternative date and we can hold your bus booking until this is confirmed for you.
We are a family owned and operated bus company that has been in the Hawke’s Bay region for 115 years, and more recently with a satellite depot in Taupo. We currently have 130 staff in both driving and administrative roles. This is a challenging time for our industry, and we appreciate your support. We know that some cancellations are out of your control but we hope that where possible, by working together on our policies, we can provide a safe environment for you to continue to travel with us.
Keep safe, and talk soon!
All the best,
Katie Nimon
