Easter Holiday

A reminder that the school is closed Good Friday through Easter Tuesday, 06 April. We reopen Wednesday, 07 April. This will be Day 4 on the school calendar. 

Year 10 ‘Good Man Award’ Programme

All Y10 students are included in the ‘Good Man Award’ programme. The programme encourages our Y10’s to recognise and reflect the values of the school, including participation across the school and community.

Community service is a significant aspect of the programme. Every Y10 core class will participate in a community service project, supported by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. 10 FD will be completing their community service on Wednesday, 07 April, 1:10 – 3:10 pm. Permission slips have been sent home with the boys. The teacher responsible is Mrs K Taylor, Senior Master, ktaylor@nbhs.school.nz

Y9-10 Junior Social

We will host a Y9-10 Junior Social on Thursday, 08 April, 7:00 – 9:00 pm in the Henderson Hall. The Junior Social is with students from Napier Girls’ High School. Wednesday, 09 April is the final day for ticket sales. Following the social your son can be collected from the school quad at 9:00 pm.

L2 Geography field trip

The L2 Geography classes are out Thursday, 08 April, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm. This field trip is for AS2.5, collecting data for their Urban Study. The teacher responsible is Mr A Johnson ajohnson@nbhs.school.nz

Winter Uniform

A reminder that all students must be in winter uniform for the start of Term 2. Winter uniform includes the ‘new’ long-sleeve shirt. The Uniform Shop is open to students Tuesday 3:10 – 4:30 pm and Thursday 1:10 – 2:10pm through to the end of term. Parents / caregivers can order uniform items by emailing uniforms@nbhs.school.nz The Uniform Shop will open the final Friday of the school holiday, Friday 30 April, 10:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Progress Report, April

Progress reports are generated twice a term. The report is a valuable overview of your son’s achievement and effort. The second progress report will be emailed to parents / caregivers on the 12th April

A reminder that parents / caregivers are able to access results and historical reports through the KAMAR Parent Portal. Log-in details were posted by mail at the start of the school year. If you have difficulty accessing the portal please contact Mrs J Gourdie jgourdie@nbhs.school.nz You can access the KAMAR parent portal here: https://kamar.nbhs.school.nz/

NCEA Internal Assessments due in Week 10

In the Senior School a number of assessments are due at the end of term. Please check-in with your son in relation to his progress. Effective time management is critical to success. Encourage your son to seek clarification from his teacher in relation to assessment tasks and criteria. Knowing what they have to achieve, or produce, for each criteria, Achieved through Excellence, is another important stepping stone to success.

North Island Athletics

Following success at the East Coast North Island Athletics Championships our premier athletes will complete at the North Island Championship Friday, 09 – Sunday, 11 April in Hamilton. We will post results to Facebook.
