Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) Immunisation Programme

The MMR vaccine will be offered onsite at Napier Boys’ High School. This is a Ministry of Health initiative. The vaccinations will take place on Monday, 24 May. On Tuesday your son received an information and consent form. Please arrange for the form to be returned to your son’s tutor teacher before Friday, 14 May.

School Inter-House Cross Country

The school inter-house cross country will take place on Thursday, 13 May. All students run for house points in this event. Currently, Clyde and Napier lead the inter-house competition. Please ensure that your son comes to school with appropriate shoes and clothes to run in, PE gear or house colours.

Eastern District Police Anti Drink-Driving Event

On Wednesday, 12 May the Y11 students will attend the longstanding anti drink-driving event run by Road Safe HB and the New Zealand Police. The event targets the next generation of drivers across the region. The year level will travel to / from Pettigrew Green Arena by bus.

Class field trips

The Y11 Geography classes are out Monday, 10 May. This fieldtrip is for AS1.3 Sustainable environments. The visit is to Te Awa Winery, with a focus on sustainability and the social and economic implications of viticulture for the Hawke’s Bay region. The teacher responsible is Mr A Johnson ajohnson@nbhs.school.nz

The Y11 Economics classes are visiting the Mister Apple Whakatū site on Thursday, 13 May. This is for AS1.2 Producer Decisions. The teachers responsible are Mr L Onekawa lonekawa@nbhs.school.nz & Mr M Riddell mriddell@nbhs.school.nz

The Y13 Biology class visit the National Aquarium on Friday, 14 May. This relates to AS3.1 Carry out a practical investigation in a biological context, with guidance. The teacher responsible is Mr M Hardy mhardy@nbhs.school.nz

Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Regional Kapa Haka Competition

Following a ten-week preparation, including an impressive dress rehearsal for the school this week, our Kapa Haka group will compete at the regionals on Friday, 14 May.

The chess team will compete at the Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Individual Championship on Friday, 14 May.

Tauranga Boys’ College – Junior School Exchange

We have a number of sporting fixtures across the Junior School on Tuesday, 11 May against teams from Tauranga Boys’ College (TBC). The TBC teams arrive Monday and are billeted overnight. Although early in the season, this is a great opportunity for our junior teams. The exchange involves U14 & U15 Rugby, Junior A Basketball, Colts A Football & Colts A Hockey. The hockey will be played at Park Island. Other fixtures are at school. All games start at 10:30am.

1st XV Rugby

The 1st XV head to Wellington on Saturday, 15 May for a pre-season fixture versus Rongotai College. This is on the back of recent pre-season wins over Wellington College, Lindisfarne College and Mount Albert Grammar School. Their Super 8 season begins Saturday, 12 June versus Gisborne Boys’; this is an away game.

Basketball games begin from Monday, 10 May. Rugby and Football begin their season on Saturday, 15 May.
