Kia ora koutou,

As we come to the end of another busy term, I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students throughout this challenging period. Despite the hurdles presented by the recent cyclone, our students have shown a remarkable level of resilience, adapting to changes in their learning environment and continuing to push themselves in their academic pursuits. Given that students missed two weeks of school, we will need to continue to work together to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

I am incredibly proud of our students for their perseverance and positive attitude in the face of adversity. They have demonstrated maturity and commitment to their studies. We are fortunate to have such an inspiring group of young people at our school.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to our teachers, who have gone above and beyond to ensure that our senior school students can navigate learning and assessments successfully. They have adapted their teaching strategies and programmes, particularly NCEA assessment work, to meet the needs of our students and provide exceptional support during these trying times.

Congratulations to all the boys who recently participated in the summer tournament. I was impressed by the way in which they competed with a positive attitude and willing spirit. I received numerous reports about how our boys’ displayed humility and were gracious in both failure and success.

Finally, I would like to thank our community for their support, in particular the schools around the nation who donated money to help our community recover from the cyclone. A special mention goes to the Evergreen Foundation for their significant donation to support families living in the rural sector. The generosity of these organisations and schools have been amazing.

Thank you to our parents who continue to stand by us and work with us to better support our students’ learning. It is truly a collaborative effort, and we are grateful for your unwavering support.

As we head into the break, I hope you all take the time to rest and recharge for the upcoming term. Please spend quality time with your whānau. We look forward to continuing our journey together and seeing what our students will achieve in the future.
