Napier Boys High School Week Ahead

Week Ahead: Week 5 Term 2,  Monday 22nd May – Sunday 28th May

PPTA Strike Action: Rostering Home This will affect Year 11 students on Thursday, 25 May. Day boys in this year group are required to stay home.

Hire Blazers

On occasion the school requires students to wear ‘No.1s’ / dress uniform. Blazers are hired out for this purpose / event, only. Unfortunately, in recent months school blazers have been hired and not returned. No student should have a hire blazer at home, except for the current Super 8 rugby squad.

If your son has a blazer in his room that you know does not belong to him, please return this to the school office.

Teacher-only Day – advance notice

Following King’s Birthday, the school will be closed on Tuesday, 06 June for teacher professional learning development.

Junior Assessment Week – Advance Notice

Junior Assessment Week for Y9 and Y10 students runs Monday 12 – Wednesday 14 June. Assessments are for one hour in each subject. Y9s have formal assessments for their core classes – English, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies. Y10s have assessments for their core classes and two options. One intention of the formal assessments at Y9 and Y10 is to build opportunities for our young men to familiarise themselves with some of the experiences they will face in the senior school. Major ‘takeaways’ should be understanding the value of preparation, the type of study programme that works best for them and learning how to manage their time in an exam setting.

A study booklet, prepared by the Deputy Headmaster, has been distributed to Y9/10s in tutor class alongside information / revision tips on the MyMahi App. Results will be available for parents / whānau via the Kamar Parent Portal. Following the assessments, we will generate the final Term 2 Progress Report. Thereafter, Parent / Teacher Interviews run in Week 10. Information related to booking interviews will follow later this term.
