Mr Beaumont and four NBHS students and flew up to Auckland Saturday to compete in the Rangitoto Ocean Swim. All four boys were billeted with one generous Auckland Grammar host.
Registration started at 5.30am Sunday morning followed by a ferry crossing which took them to the starting line on Rangitoto Island.
The four boys and staff member who represented NBHS were:
WETSUIT: Hadlee Dyer, Cameron Madams and Trent Kamper
NON WETSUIT: Jade Wills and Mr Graham Beaumont
426 swimmers completed the event. The results overall were separated into two sections – wetsuit and non-wetsuit.
Wetsuit
15 to 19 years: 1st Hadlee Dyer and 3rd swimmer overall
15 to 19 years: 4th Cameron Madams
14 and under: 1st Trent Kamper
Non-wetsuit
15 to 19 years: 6th Jade Wills
Nearly the oldest age group: 6th Mr G. Beaumont
