Term 2 start
Term 2 starts Monday, 03 May. This is Day 6 on the school calendar. The School Office will be closed through the holiday period; the exception is the Uniform Shop (see below).
Winter Uniform
A reminder that all students must be in winter uniform for the start of Term 2. Winter uniform includes the ‘new’ long-sleeve shirt. The Uniform Shop will open the final Friday of the school holiday, Friday 30 April, 10:00 am – 3:30 pm.
Communication
It is critical that parents / caregivers notify the school of changes to their contact details. Changes should be updated with the school office by emailing Mrs J Gourdie jgourdie@nbhs.school.nz It is important that the email address you provide is an account that you check daily. Similarly, it is critical that we have your correct phone number. This will be used in the case of emergency or urgent communication. In Week 1 during tutor class, your son will be asked to confirm the contact details we have on our school management system.
KAMAR Parent Portal
A reminder that parents / caregivers are able to access results and historical reports through the KAMAR Parent Portal. Log-in details were posted by mail at the start of the school year. Several winter codes have pre-season activities running through the Term 1 break. While the sailing team head to nationals. We wish the teams and coaches all the best for their time away.
Hockey – South Island Tour
A squad of seventeen players head to the South Island during the Term 1 holiday. This replaces the scheduled Uruguay / Argentina tour. The nine-day tour, 19 – 27 April, will include seven fixtures versus other Rankin Cup schools. The squad will ‘play tourist’ for some of the time, even popping into the Southbridge Rugby Club for a chat with Dan Carter’s father.
Rugby
The 1st XV head to St Paul’s Collegiate, Hamilton for the ‘St Paul’s Camp’. This runs 22 – 25 April with fixtures against Westlake Boys’ and Mount Albert Grammar. This is on the back of recent pre-season wins over Wellington College and Lindisfarne College.
Basketball
The Senior and Junior A are involved in the Rotorua Tip-Off Invitation Tournament. The tournament runs 30 April – 02 May.
Football
Two Y12 students, Sam Lack and Oscar Mason, will attend the New Zealand U20 ID Camp during the first week of the holidays. The camp is held at St Peter’s College, Cambridge.
Sailing
Following their success at the Central North Island Sailing Championship, our A Team will compete in the Gold Fleet at the National Secondary School Teams Regatta. The regatta is held at Algies Bay, 24 April – 01 May.
Orienteering
Our orienteering team will compete at the North Island Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships. The event takes place in Palmerston North, 29 April to 01 May.
