Teacher-only Day

The school is closed Friday,15 November for teacher professional learning development. There are no NZQA examinations scheduled for this day. The school will reopen Monday 18 November. This is Day 3 on the school timetable.

Uniform Shop

During Week 4 the Uniform Shop is open Tuesday 05 November, 3:00 – 4:30pm, only. The Uniform Shop will reopen Tuesday, 19 November. For urgent uniform orders, your son can purchase items at the School Office.

NCEA Examinations

The NCEA examinations commence Tuesday 05 and finish Friday 29 November. The NCEA examinations are onsite, administered by NZQA contracted staff. Most examinations are in the Henderson Hall. Students must attend their examinations in school uniform.

The National Secondary Examination Timetable can be accessed here.

Please support us to ensure that your son arrives at the exam centre on time and prepared. They require their writing equipment in a transparent plastic bag, their admission slip and if required water in a ‘clear’ drink bottle. If they are completing a digital examination their device, obviously, should be fully charged. More detailed instructions for the external assessments are available here.

Admission slips can be reprinted. Your son will need to reprint this from their NZQA account. This can be accessed here. Your son will require their NSN number to access his NZQA account. If your son cannot access his account, they must report to the hall foyer 30 minutes before their scheduled examination.

Study leave does not mean that support from subject teachers stops. Your son should liaise with his subject teacher regarding tutorials and support through the study leave period. This can be done via MS Teams or by email.

Students in 10XG and 10XH have study leave as per:

Completing L1 Geography: Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 November

Completing L1 Mathematics: Thursday 7 and Friday 8 November

Completing L1 History: Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 November

Completing L1 Science: Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 November

Students who are in 10HX but not in the L1 Mathematics or Science programme will go to the timetabled 10XG core classes on that day.

Updated Junior Timetable

This afternoon, students in Y9 & 10 received an updated timetable. The new timetable applies through to the end of the school year. We would appreciate your assistance to ensure your son brings his new timetable to school on Monday 04 November is Day 6 on the school timetable.

Senior Prizegiving

The Senior Prizegiving was held last evening. It was wonderful to recognise such a large number of senior students. Again, we congratulate all recipients and acknowledge the support of parents and whānau. Photographs of prize winners will be made available in the coming days. Parents / caregivers of prize winners will receive a link to view photos from the evening.

Careers

If your son is considering applying for a student allowance or loan they should complete the eligibility test. This requires a Real Me account.

All applications for a student allowance or a student loan must be completed by 16 December. More information and instructions can be accessed at www.studylink.govt.nz

Your son should be checking their personal email account for updates related to their application/s.

Mrs Kettle, Careers Assistant, is available for support LKettle@nbhs.school.nz

Senior Reports & Accessing NCEA Results

Students can check entries and access their results via the NZAQ website. This is where they can check their examination results too, from late January. Information about how to access this is available here. They will require their National Student Identification Number (NSI).
