Week Ahead: Week 6, Term 1
Monday 07 – Sunday 13 March
Updated School Timetable
We have reviewed and updated the school timetable. The timetable, below, is in effect from Monday, 07 March.
Goal-Setting Conferences
Goal-Setting Conferences are Thursday 10th and Friday 11th March. Conferences are between 11:00am – 7:00pm on Thursday and 10:00am – 2:40pm on Friday. Conferences run for twenty minutes.
Purpose
Conferences involve a three-way meeting between the student, parent and tutor teacher. The purpose of the conference is to set agreed SMART goals for your son to work toward in 2022.
Year 9 students: the conference begins with a discussion around how the year has started, addressing any questions. You will then set SMART goals for 2022 and agree on the steps required to successfully achieve these goals.
Year 10 – 13 students: the conference begins with a review of the 2021 goals and achievements. You will then set SMART goals for 2022 and agree on the steps required to successfully achieve these goals.

- Review
- Y9s – how has the transition been to Napier Boys’? What questions do you have?
- Y10 – Y13 – revisit the goals that were set in 2021. Why were / weren’t these achieved?
- Looking forward
- What are some goals / targets for your son in & out of class?
- How can we work collectively to achieve these?
- What are some goals / targets for your son in & out of class?

COVID-19 Phase 3 – Procedure and Learning
Procedure
- Confirmed positive cases and household contacts of positive cases will be required to isolate for 10 days
- The isolation period is 10 days from the positive test
- If your son is isolating at home because he is a household contact, he will need a test on Day 3 and Day 10. He may return to school after this period, if his test results are negative and he is symptom free
- At Phase 3 students who develop COVID-19 symptoms must remain at home and get a test. If the test (PCR or RAT) is negative and symptoms are no longer present, then they can return to school without any further isolation
- If a boarder tests positive, no other students residing in Scinde House will be considered a ‘household contact’
- As we have previously communicated, students who are unwell will need to stay at home. If they become unwell while at school, they must be collected immediately. This will help to reduce the spread of the virus.
- If your son is unwell at school, he must follow the correct process. He must be assessed at the school office. The office staff will notify you that he is unwell. They will ask that you collect him immediately from school.
- Please do not collect your son unless he has been assessed and signed-out at the school office.
- If your son is at home with COVID-19 symptoms, a household contact, or tests positive for COVID-19, please contact the school as soon as possible. Please email attendance@nbhs.school.nz or phone 06 8335900.
- If your son is unwell at school, he must follow the correct process. He must be assessed at the school office. The office staff will notify you that he is unwell. They will ask that you collect him immediately from school.
Offsite Learning
- Students that are unable to be onsite, as a household contact or COVID-positive, can continue their learning via MS TEAMS. Teachers continue to post lessons, activities and resources to MS TEAMS for their senior classes. Obviously, some practical lessons are impacted. For junior classes teachers are either posting their lessons or have uploaded a ‘pack’ of learning material to the TEAM for the Y9 / 10 student to work through during their absence.
- For your reference the MS TEAMS Student Manual is available here.

Level 1 Geography classes are studying river processes across the Hawke’s Bay on Tuesday, 08 March.
