Communication
It is critical that parents / caregivers notify the school of changes to their contact details. Changes should be updated with the school office by emailing Mrs J Gourdie jgourdie@nbhs.school.nz It is important that the email address you provide is an account that you check daily.
We have updated the channels we use to communicate with our school community. These include:
Week Ahead: this updates parents / caregivers on events across the school, academic, cultural & sports. The Week Ahead is sent by email every Friday afternoon. Also, a link is sent via the School App.
Email: letters, request for parental consent and some school notices are sent by email.
Text message / SMS: in the case of an emergency, or the need to push out urgent updates we may use a text messaging service. As per the above comment it is important that parents / caregivers update the school with any change to their mobile phone number.
KAMAR Parent Portal: KAMAR is our student management system. Parents / caregivers can access aspects of their son’s school records through the KAMAR parent portal, in particular assessments and results. Parents / caregivers have been provided with login details. This was posted by mail at the start of the school year. If you have difficulty accessing the portal please contact Mrs J Gourdie jgourdie@nbhs.scool.nz You can access the KAMAR parent portal here: https://kamar.nbhs.school.nz/
Website: Aspects of the school website are updated regularly. The website provides parents with a link to the KAMAR parent portal. Also, you can access the school calendar https://www.nbhs.school.nz/events/ and most news items that have been sent by email or the School App https://www.nbhs.school.nz/news/
Facebook: Facebook remains an effective way for the school to share information related to school life. For example, wider school events, success stories and activities outside the classroom. We encourage our community to ‘like’ the Napier Boys’ High School https://www.facebook.com/napierboys and Napier Boys’ High School Sport https://facebook.com/NBHSSports Facebook pages.
Instagram: this is another great way for us to push out snapshots and ‘stories’ of what is happening through the school day. Again, please follow us ‘napierboyshs’.
Newsletter: we are reviewing the frequency of our school newsletter. A school newsletter will be produced at least once a term. The purpose of the newsletter is to inform the community and acknowledge what is happening across the school.
Scindian: the Scindian is the school magazine. It is published annually and is an opportunity to capture and provide a record of achievement across the school year. The Scindian is available in a digital format to the wider community.
Columns: the Napier Boys’ High School Association produces COLUMNS bi-annually. It is focused on wider school news, Old Boy updates and the history of the School. Enquiries related to this publication and the Association should be sent to: oldboys@nbhs.school.nz
