Week Ahead: Week 8, Term 2
Monday 20 – Sunday, 26 June
Updated School Timetable
On the back of severe illness across the school – staff and students – we will move to four-period days through Week 8. Regular timetabled classes will finish at 1:10pm. Buses will depart at the earlier time of 1:20pm.
School is open for instruction through the regular school day, with all teachers onsite. At this time, if your son is behind with their senior assessment(s) they are expected to stay at school with the related classroom teacher(s).
The school library will remain open. Sports practices will run at their normal time(s).
If you have a son in Y9 that requires onsite supervision through to the end of the regular school day, please contact the Deputy Headmaster, Mr B Smith, to arrange this: bsmith@nbhs.school.nz
Careers Expo
We are fortunate to be able to offer our community a tailor-made careers evening. Our Career Expo is open to all students and their whānau. This is a fantastic opportunity for you and your son to chat with experts across an array of industries and providers. This will help you to ‘plant’ some thinking about future pathways and potentially ‘back-map’ subject selection.
The NBHS Careers Expo is at Pettigrew Green Arena, Tuesday 21 June, 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
Winter Wellness
To assist us to reduce the transmission of viruses we ask that you support us with these messages:
- Stay home if unwell as winter viruses are very infectious. Please only allow your son to return to school when symptoms have improved. Wearing a mask to school when they return is strongly recommended.
- Test for COVID-19 using a RAT. If your son tests positive, upload their results to the My Covid Record and follow the Ministry of Health’s advice. Please also continue to let us know at school attendance@nbhs.school.nz or ph. 06 8335901.
- Wearing masks at school. With the heightened spread of flu, we are encouraging the wearing masks in all indoor settings onsite, for staff and students. This is not compulsory, but good practice.
- Hand hygiene and cough ‘etiquette’ are strongly encouraged. Our boys are learning. Coupled with mask-wearing indoors, this will help to reduce the spread of illness to others. Please encourage your son to wash her hands regularly and use hand sanitiser throughout the day.
