Week Ahead: Week 9 Term 2, Monday 19th June – Sunday 25th June
PPTA Strike Action – Rostering Home
Industrial action by PPTA members continues in Week 9. The action impacts two year levels per day.
We will continue to send out app alert reminders ahead of each rostering home day.
Rostering home will impact multiple year levels over multiple days in Week 9, as per:
- Monday 19 June Y9 and Y10
- Tuesday 20 June Y11 and Y12
- Wednesday 21 June Y9 and Y13
- Thursday 22 June Y10 and Y11
Day boys are required to stay home on these days.
PPTA Paid Union Meeting (PUM)
The school has been advised by the PPTA that they are holding a regional PUM on Wednesday, 28 June, through the morning. Accordingly, we have decided to shift the day boy parent / teacher interviews to the Wednesday, starting at 1:00pm.
School will be open on this day through to 12:15 for any students that require supervision. There will be no timetabled classes. If your son requires supervision onsite please email Mr D Russell drussell@nbhs.school.nz

Week 10 Parent / Teacher Interviews
We have updated the schedule for the interviews. As per above, the date for the Day Boy interviews has changed. All meetings will be onsite.
Day boy interviews are now on Wednesday, 28 June 1:00 – 7:00pm.
Hostel interviews are still running Friday, 30 June 1:00 – 3:30pm.
Early next week an email will be sent with booking information.
June Progress Report
The June Progress Report will be emailed ahead of the Parent / Caregiver Teacher Interviews. If you have any questions about the grades and results reflected in the Progress Report, please raise these at the interviews. Conversely, we appreciate you taking the time to support your son, highlighting the positives in the report.

Literacy & Numeracy Common Assessments
The NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Common Assessment Tasks ran successfully onsite in Week 8. These assessments function as a co-requisite for NCEA Level 1, where students must achieve Literacy and Numeracy to achieve Level 1 overall. Thank you for your support here. For many of the boys it was their first experience with an external format NZQA assessment.
These assessments are marked externally. Results will be available in the next 6 – 8 weeks.
Junior Assessment Week – Results
Junior assessments / in-class examinations have been completed. Y9s had formal assessments for their core classes – English, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies. Y10s had assessments for their core classes and two options.
Results are / will be available for parents / whānau via the Kamar Parent Portal.
Agriculture Careers Day
The Agriculture classes are out Wednesday, 21 June at Cabbage Tree Flat Station, Waimarama, for the Growing Future Farmers Open Day.
