TUIA 2024: Māori and Pasifika Achievement Awards

For those students who have been nominated to receive an award at TUIA next week Tuesday, your whānau should have received an email by now inviting you (and your whānau) to attend. Y9 & Y10 Junior Social

The Junior Social with NGHS will be held in the NBHS Gymnasium on Thursday, 19 September. The theme is ‘Hawaiian’. Year 9 / 10 parents, please check your email for further information.

Ticket sales are now closed. We have reached the maximum limit.

Payment must be made by Tuesday 17 September. The school’s internet banking details are 12-3144-0100100-00. As a reference, please use your son’s surname and the narration ‘social’. Hostel students can charge their school account.

Life Education Trust

The Life Education Trust (NZ) is onsite this week speaking to Y9 & 10s on Tuesday 17 and Friday 20 September. Topics include ‘SMART$’, a financial literacy programme, and ‘Behind the Scenes’ an education programme to address vaping.

Health Notice – Whooping Cough (Pertussis) in Hawke’s Bay

We have been asked by Health NZ to share that they have reported a significant increase in whooping cough in Hawke’s Bay. Whooping cough causes breathing difficulties and severe coughing fits. Immunisation provides the best protection against whooping cough; this includes adults who have booster vaccination/s at 45yo and 65yo. More information can be found here.

The school benchmark senior examinations are Monday 23 – Friday, 27 September. This is Week 10, Term 3.

Morning examinations start at 8:40am. Afternoon examinations start at 1:10pm. This year the examinations will be in the Henderson Hall. Students must arrive at the Hall at least ten minutes before the start of their exam.

Level 1 Externally Assessed Standards

In numerous Level 1 courses, students are completing external assessments. These assessments are completed in class and then sent to NZQA for marking. Students will be able to access their results in January 2025.

Students have been reminded that these assessments are treated like all NZQA externally assessed / monitored assessments. Students who breach the conditions of these assessments should expect a Not Achieved grade.

Year 10 Literacy and Numeracy Common Assessment Activities (CAA)

Year 10 students, excluding 10HX and 10XG, will be completing the Literacy CAAs Tuesday 17 September. Students in Year 11 who have not yet achieved these standards will also resit their CAAs. The assessment is during Period 2. Students are encouraged to bring their own device for these assessments.
